Why Scheltema Tammenoms?

How can I add value to a discussion in my Board on a topic on which I have no experience? And what should I have in mind when assessing major strategic proposals? These are questions newly appointed Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) may ask themselves Scheltema Tammenoms will help you anticipate and address these challenges. We, Margot Scheltema and Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker, are two experienced NEDs who previously served as Executives for many years. Our purpose is to help new NEDs accelerate their ability to add value to discussions around the Board table.

What we do

Greater diversity in Board composition at a time of increasingly stringent governance standards leads to new training requirements.
Scheltema Tammenoms addresses the training requirements of newly appointed NEDs without Boardroom experience. We offer highly personalised coaching, based on our own practical experience, tailored to the needs of the individual, the Board and the company.

How we work

Our method focuses on personal coaching and training over the course of one year. The first meeting is an intake discussion to assess the specific context in which you will be operating and the experience you bring. After that we will schedule six individual sessions, during which you will be able to reflect on your experiences at the Board table and receive detailed training and guidance regarding a specific theme of Board work. We will assess and develop your Board skills along a comprehensive Board Effectiveness Framework. You will also have access to recent, publicly available best practice materials.

Testimonials

I believe that Margot and Jacqueline offer something powerful and unique in the world of coaching and development for (newly appointed) NEDs.

Their approach to balancing theory, the latest trends, and sharing their experiences was incredibly valuable.

I left with deeper technical understanding, plenty of practical tips and several absolute pearls which have already become my watchwords.

The true value for me was the very genuine interest they had in my needs and how they helped me find the right questions.

Reflecting on ‘how questions are asked’ proved very effective.

Our work together made me aware of development opportunities and my value added as a supervisory board member.
